International Peace and Ceasefire

"Our Mission is to petition the United Nations for the extension of the existing Resolution      adopted by the General Assembly 55/282. International Day of Peace to include the remaining    365 days of the year. "

We have been invited by the United Nation in paragraph 3 of the aforementioned resolution to cooperate with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire:

3. Invites all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, regional and non-governmental organisations and individuals to commemorate, in an appropriate manner, the Intenational Day of Peace, including through education and public awareness to cooperate with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire.

Taken from Resolution 55/282. Internatonal Day of Peace, 11th plenary meeting, 7th September 2001

We would like to extend this invitation and campaign for peace for the rest of the days.

A bit of History

On the 19th of September 2005 we watched a program on Channel 4 titled 'Peace One Day'. Afterwards while discussing the programme with my friends we had a good laugh... 'Good for them, one day of peace. But what's wrong with the remaining 365 days?' Since then we have committed ourselves to spreading the invitation by the General Assembley 55/282 International Day of Peace where in paragraph 3 we read: "...invites all member states, organizations of the United Nations system, regional and non-govermental organisations and individuals"... (like ourselves) ..."to commemorate, in an appropriate manner, the international day of peace including through education and public awarness, and to cooperate with the united nations in establishing of the global ceasefire..." ...and intend to, with the united single voice and active supporters involved in the process, propose to extend the resolution 55/282 for the additional 365 days.

Education

There is a lot of pressure on education. Education is not only the process of erecting more schools and employing more teachers. Education is how and what we are going to teach our children and ourselves.

Firstly it has to be established what Peace is all about by re-educating post-war society on how to implement the first principle of life (the right to live) in minds of all present and future generations of children and young people.

A Waste of Energy

There is an industry of wasted energy dedicated to war. This energy can be re-distributed through the means of global disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration to be redirected towards dialogue based processes by mutual education and campaign awareness and the establishment of the civil society.

The Next Step

Since the very beginning of history, in mankind the word PEACE has been on the lips of so many, but what is needed is action. Effective and constructive action from everyone. Friends and associates keep asking us to write a book about it. Let us share the responsibility and write this book together.

A few decades ago the Cold War was threatening so many nations. Look at us now. In the film 'Peace One Day' Rober Muller, former Assistant Secretary-General of the UN used the end of the Cold War as an example when he said "I have seen so many miracles in my life that I believe in miracles and dreams. Someone, somewhere has to come up with the first dream"

As we have mentioned, there is one International Day of Peace - so what is wrong with the rest of the days? The time has come to take the next step. The next step is to establish peace for the rest of those days. And that is the reality. We have to take the next step.
