Back in the USSA

David Rovics
- I'm back in North America as of a few days ago after another fine European tour.  Spending the rest of the month hanging out in Ontario, mostly in the great city of Toronto, aside from 24 hours in Washington, DC for a rally organized by the Climate Emergency Council on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina -- please go to www.climateemergency.org for more info on that.

Hey folks,
My new CD and accompanying DVD, Halliburton Boardroom Massacre, is hot off the presses.  The official release date is September 5th.  This will also be the kick-off date of my fall tour to promote the release, which will take me all over the US (plus one or two gigs in Canada).  The itinerary as it stands now is at the end of this email.  For the up-to-date details, please see the "gigs" page at www.davidrovics.com.
There are plenty of free dates to add more shows to the tour, especially late September in the Pacific Northwest, and October and November in the northeastern and southeastern US and the midwest.  If you want to organize something in your area or know someone who might, or if you have ideas for radio stations or other media who should be getting a free copy of the CD/DVD, please feel free to email my booking agent and publicity coordinator, Jen Angel at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Halliburton Boardroom Massacre will of course be available at shows during my tour and will also be available in the "buy stuff" section of www.davidrovics.com.  But what I'd most like to encourage people to do is to buy the recording in stores.  It will be distributed throughout North America, Europe and elsewhere through Caroline Distribution (www.caroline.com), a subsidiary of EMI.  The catch is that although it is being distributed by a major distributor, all the publicity is being done among the grassroots on a shoestring budget.
What I'm relying on most of all is for people on my email list to spread the word about the recording and to go to your local music store and buy the record there.  If you go there sometime after September 5th and it's not in stock, please tell them to order a few copies through Caroline.  If everybody on my list did this and got a few other people to do this, it could make the difference between success and failure from the vantage point of the distributor.
The fundraiser to support the release has gone very well.  I raised over $7,000 over the past several weeks, enough to pay for a certain amount of print, radio and internet publicity.  If anybody else out there is able and willing to make further donations to the cause, any money I receive over the next few weeks will go directly into buying advertisements in national magazines and local weekly papers along the route of my fall tour.  I'd love to have big ads in publications like Mother Jones, the Village Voice, etc.  Whether or not I'll be able to do that will depend on donations that might come in over the next few weeks.  (For info on how to make donations please go to www.davidrovics.com and click on the link for the Halliburton Boardroom Massacre fall tour.)
My friend Michael Rutzou is currently designing a HBM fall tour t-shirt, and he is also working on souping up my website.  If you go to www.davidrovics.com and take the survey (the link is top and center), that will help him improve things.  Michael has also designed great posters for the tour and the CD/DVD release, which can be downloaded in both color and black & white (from the "photos, posters and songbook" link on my website) and wheatpasted all over town!
OK, I'll sign off now and leave you with the tour dates.  There will be many more dates added, especially for October and November.  They will appear on my website as they're confirmed, and I'll send out email updates about them along the line, too.
Hope to see you on the road and in the streets!
