Swords, Rightousness, and the Christian Peacemaker Hostages

- Kurt Nimmo - Once again, another propaganda video has surfaced in Iraq, showing abducted members of the Christian Peacemaker Teams. ?Arab television broadcast a new videotape Tuesday showing three Christian peace activists taken hostage in Iraq last year, but a fourth the only American abducted was not seen in the footage,? reports ABC News. ?The four had not been heard from since a videotape aired by Al-Jazeera television on Jan. 28, dated from a week before.

A statement purportedly accompanying that tape said the hostages would be killed unless all Iraqi prisoners were released from Iraqi and U.S. prisons. No deadline was set?. The four workers disappeared Nov. 26. The previously unknown Swords of Righteousness Brigades claimed responsibility for kidnapping them.?

It only takes a small bit of Google sleuthing to gather enough information about the ?previously unknown Swords of Righteousness Brigades? and arrive at a possible conclusion as to why the Iraqi resistance, or a shadowy group claiming to be part of the resistance, would kidnap and threaten to kill peace activists instead of Iraqi officials or ?coalition? forces.

As noted above, little is known about the Swords of Righteousness Brigades, although it is believed, according to the SITE Institute, they are connected to the Islamic Army in Iraq (IAI). IAI is described as ?one of a number of underground Islamist militant, or mujaheddin, organizations formed in Iraq following the 2003 invasion of Iraq by United States,? according to Wikipedia.

IAI, al-Jazeera reports, is not primarily Salafi, that is to say the organization does not subscribe per se to Sunni Wahhabism, but is influenced by and has members from the Muslim Brotherhood, a fact that should send up a big fat red flag.

Moreover, IAI, said to be linked to ?al-Qaeda,? is apparently dedicated to portraying the Iraqi resistance as blood-thirsty thugs, as they executed Italian independent journalist and Red Cross worker Enzo Baldoni, a humanitarian who also worked in Colombia, Chiapas, Myanmar, and East Timor. Logic would dictate that a journalist who interviewed Zapatista leader Subcomandante Marcos in Chiapas and Xanana Gusmao in East Timor, leaders of resistance movements, would be of more use to the Iraqi resistance alive, but instead we are to believe some sort of minor and insignificant political statement was made by killing him.

Peter Goodgame (The British, the Middle East and Radical Islam) has documented Muslim Brotherhood links to both the CIA and MI6. Goodgame quotes Dr. John Coleman, a former British Intelligence agent, that the Muslim Brotherhood was created by ?the great names of British Middle East intelligence, T.E. Lawrence, E.G. Browne, Arnold Toynbee. St. John Philby and Bertrand Russell,? and that their mission was to ?keep the Middle East backward so that its natural resource, oil, could continue to be looted.?

In 1955, writes the Palestinian-American journalist Said Aburish (A Brutal Friendship: The West and the Arab Elite), according to ?CIA agent Miles Copeland, the Americans began looking for a Muslim Billy Graham?. When finding or creating a Muslim Billy Graham proved elusive, the CIA began to cooperate with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Muslim mass organization founded in Egypt but with followers throughout the Arab Middle East?. This signalled the beginning of an alliance between the traditional regimes and mass Islamic movements against Nasser and other secular forces.?

In more recent years, ?State Department and CIA officials have met with Brotherhood activists in Egypt, Kuwait, Jordan, the Palestinian territories and elsewhere to track currents within Islamic politics,? the Washington Post reported in September, 2004. For the CIA, of course, tracking Islamic political ?currents? is the same as manipulating them, as the long and sordid history of the spook organization reveals.

Again, the abduction of Christian Peacemaker Teams members makes little sense, unless we are to assume the ?previously unknown Swords of Righteousness Brigades,? easily connected back to the Islamic Army in Iraq and thus the MI6-CIA penetrated Muslim Brotherhood, is nothing less than a gang of thugs determined to abduct and brutally execute as many Americans and Europeans as possible, for no political reason whatsoever.

In fact, abducting, torturing, and eventually killing peace activists and sympathetic journalists serves only the Anglo-American occupation, as it sends a message through the corporate media, the main propaganda arm of the Straussian neocon cabal in the White House and the Pentagon, that removing U.S. troops from Iraq will be a victory for the Swords of Righteousness Brigades and result in chaos, violence and a ?civil war,? a result the Straussian neocons are now in the process of engineering (see the recent comments of Daniel Pipes). Of course, if we are to believe the corporate polls, the vast majority of Americans, and apparently troops as well, want the U.S out of Iraq and pronto.
